2010 Screenprinting
Jul. 29th, 2012 08:36 pmI discovered that I had some half finished drafts from 2010 kicking around. Somehow I even I forgot to upload a picture of this particular project :-D This is one of three pieces my Fibre 2D class was assigned for the screenprinting part.
As I recall, mixing the dyes and screenprinting medium was very messy and smelly. The stencils were made out of Tyvek, which is very durable and easy to cut. Building on the idea of "dangerous weather" from the previous project, I cut a lightning bolt stencil on my Pazzles - thank goodness for that as it would have taken forever by hand.
This piece measures about 20x20". Unfortunately the fabric was not cotton - it was something in the scrap bin that felt like cotton. The dye bled a little as a result - but it was kind of a happy accident.
Two years seems like so long ago - one of the pieces was a banner and the other was on purple fabric. I can't even remember where I put them :-P
