If all it took to get into art school was horses, birds and flowers, I'd be set. Alas it takes a bit more than that, such as a few nude figures, something with a little perspective and lots of observation. Out of all the models we had, the last one, Robert, was easy to draw because of his well defined body. There will be a woman nude down the road, although I'm not sure which one yet.

This drawing is based on a 40 minute pose that Robert did. I roughed in as much of the highlights and shadows as I could before time was up and I did have to refer to a few anatomy books to get a few details right. There are a few mistakes with Robert - his torso is a little wide, I may have invented some muscle groups and the one lower leg is a little long and the foot too short - but this is truly the best human shaped figure I have drawn to date.

I wouldn't want to embarrass anyone at work, so there's no preview in this entry. Click here for Robert. You might also be wondering - what's the difference between naked and nude? When the model is posing, they are nude. If they're walking around the classroom, they're naked. Or, at least, that's how my Drawing 110 teacher explained it :-)
