There's dark bay and blood bay. No other bays forthcoming though! Originally I had planned 12 colours for this series, but 12 seemed a bit ambitious!

Black Arabian ACEO
This isn't the PanPastel ACEO I mentioned in my last post, although the background was done with PanPastels. Oooh, the smoothness of blending :-) There will be more Arabian cards coming...watch and wait!

Illustration Friday - Stitch
This week's Illustration Friday is a reminder to do something I've been meaning to do. At my old job, I had craploads of free time. I also thought I would become a cross-stitch designer. I love cross-stitch heart and soul, but darn if I can complete anything. So here I have all these patterns that I made but I didn't get around to making models of, and was too paranoid to put on the web (I'm looking at you, pattern piggies!). Here is an actual pattern that you can stitch if you care too - I did get halfway through making the model, but wasn't able to complete it. Why? What's wrong with me? Am I doomed to be like my Great-Aunt Jo and leave half-finished projects behind? :-)

Clay Horse Head
Some of you have seen this before, but I took a new photograph as the colour had changed remarkably from wet to dry, plus I also posted a bonus progress photo dump last night.
I wish I didn't feel so cheated by my high school art classes sometimes. I know that art supplies are expensive, and people don't want to waste too much money or material on inexperienced kids, but that awful red clay we got was so useless. It dried your hands out and was so hard to work with, especially when there were no sculpting tools to use!

This is one of those paintings that I started a while back (in spring) and finished this weekend. While I'm no Richard Stone Reeves, there are a lot of things I like about this painting that I improved on from the last one. For example, a smoother approach to the background
:-) It seems that I want to paint like I draw, and some cartooniness came out in Pistol. The eyes were the hardest part to get right - they were too big at first. Still not happy with the colour of the ground, but maybe some day I'll magically discover the right colour combo :-)
